Hey! I'm Matei, and I'm a senior chemical engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in April 2018. My career interests lie in materials science, polymer science, nanotechnology, and electronics. In my spare time, I like to bike around Pittsburgh, play boardgames with my roommates, and fix/tinker/repair anything broken that I can get my hands on (Pittsburgh has a great DIY/makerspace community!).

I currently work with the Fullerton Group at the Nanoelectronics and Ionics Laboratory, with my research focusing on exfoliation, characterization, and computer simulation of the behavior of few-layer TMD crystal devices for use in advanced memory applications.

I am also the engineering director at Pitt's campus radio station (WPTS FM 92.1), which was voted the "Best Collegiate Radio" by MTVu. My job entails repairing and maintaining all of the gear and radio equipment/instruments for the entire station. In addition, I also have a staff of more than 20 members that I manage, delegate, and keep records of. I also ran the local show, which plays the best of up and coming Pittsburgh bands every week. My staff and I also help setup and mix/master live show, which brings in a local band once a week to play live over air and for a short interview. Music has always been a big part of my life, both playing and listening.

Currently, I am hoping to apply to several graduate schools for something crossing the line between chemical engineering and electronics, but I am also actively looking for research and industry jobs, particularly in the field of electronics.
